Since the FDA comment period has expired, I guess I can remove that one from the list.  But I have a fun one to add to the list . . . the mod auction benefiting vaping research.  http://vapersclub.com/modauction.html  Even if you don't bid, I think it'd be great to drop by the live chat room at www.vapersplace.com to watch the fun.  (I need to check with Kevin to see if spectators are welcome.)

List as of December 30th, 2009:

1. Prepare a packet of e-mails that are ready to go for the next call for action. It take less time to send if I  have several letters prepared ahead of time. One email letter may not be right for one group, I will  make several.

2. Find a way to send snail mail to officials in other states. They don't much care to read stuff from people that can't vote.

3. Write a response to the Washington Post article at http://voices.washingtonpost.com/checkup/2009/12/is_that_right_e-cigarettes_are.html?wprss=checkup

4. Make a list of products we use every day and medications that have PG in them. The list is to send to people who think PG is bad.  http://www.righttovape.com/health-and-science/propylene-glycol-what-we-know/

5.  Write to Virginia Department of Health because it is improperly interpreting Virginia's laws.  (See form letter earlier in this thread.)

6.  Vape respectfully in public and be open and willing to share information with people.  I will carry a business-sized card with me to share information with those who might be interested:  http://www.righttovape.com/right-to-vape-activism/vaping-cards/msg15274/#new  I will also carry a few flyers with me to give helpful information about vaping:  http://www.vapersclub.com/vapersclubdotcompamphlet.pdf

7.  Send an email to VapersClub@aol.com with my state in the subject line so that my email address can be added to a data base.  When issues come up that affect me or where I might be able to have an impact, Vapers Club will contact me.  http://www.righttovape.com/right-to-vape-activism/what-can-you-do-to-protect-your-right-to-vape/

8.  Support the mod auction benefiting vaping research.  http://vapersclub.com/modauction.html  Note that the first item will be auctioned on January 1, but the auction will continue through February for those who are feeling the after holiday cash pinch.   wink

You're a doll, Aspen.  But if you look at the list, it's really not a terribly difficult one.   Wink

LOL, Aspen.  Your New Year's resolution should be to add an item or two to the list.  Wink

Julie is right just help here and there. We can get a lot done with team work.

Aspen, I am collecting the product we use everyday on the TO DO List, If you see something on a label of products you use at home post them. I am going to organize them and then post them. I will make a thread somewhere that it will not get lost in a while for people to post in.

I'm adding another item to my to do list . . . CASAA came up with a great idea: "CASAA is compiling a collection of 'To Whom it May Concern' letters to be scanned, compiled and sent wherever our fight takes us. Written correspondence always carries more weight than email, and individual campaigns required repeated calls for letters."  This project was originally posted on CASAA's subforum at ECF:  http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/casaa/58923-dear-casaa.html  and is copied here:  http://www.righttovape.com/right-to-vape-activism/%27to-whom-it-may-concern%27-letters-for-casaa/msg15510/#new

Such a great idea, and it ties in with Item No. 2 of our list . . . figuring out a way to get snail mail to officials in other states.  Hmmm . . . I might just be able to take No. 2 off our list in the not so distant future.   wink

List as of January 2nd, 2010:

8.  Support the mod auction benefiting vaping research.  http://vapersclub.com/modauction.html  The auction will continue through February for those who are feeling the after holiday cash pinch.    wink

9.  Write a "To Whom It May Concern" letter and send it off to CASAA.  http://www.righttovape.com/right-to-vape-activism/%27to-whom-it-may-concern%27-letters-for-casaa/msg15510/#new

I was thinking about what changes the Judge's rulings would bring to our use of the e-cigarette. I think we need to concerned and add somethings to our list just in case or at least think about the possibilities.

1. encourage the FDA in their regulations to require quality control of e-liquid only. Unless someone has thought of another quality control area, the e-cigarettes themselves are made of materials that are not toxic by FDA standards.

2. prepare a plan to defend our right to purchase e-liquid in a bottle at the strength of nicotine we need/want. (it is in the suppliers best interests to sell cartridges, they make more money)

3. prepare a plan to defend the right to purchase unflavored e-liquid in the strength of nicotine we want/need. they will take away our flavors that is for sure.

4. prepare a plan to defend the right to purchase the strength of nicotine we need/want to maintain our abstinence from cigarettes. The FDA will want to control the amount of nicotine we get. New e-cigarette  uses will not make it on real low nicotine cartridges. they will get discouraged and give it up.

I am think about starting a collection of medical studies that discuss nicotine and the amount of nicotine need to help a person switch to another method of nicotine delivery. There are a few studies and having them in one place for reference I think would be good. Since some folks think smoking is just the "hand to mouth" habit, (I wish my nicotine receptors knew that) we now have to prove that it is more than that. That is one of the great internet myths and I don't know how it got started but I suspect it was the folks that are against smoking.

If anyone wants and has time to help I would appreciate any and all input. I  feel that some scientific research on this would help in making sure our e-liquid had enough nicotine in it to help our fellow vapors.

Julie the TO DO List for me its getting really long. I have done a few of the things already and some are a work in progress. I am going to have to give some things a priority. I would appreciate input on that from everyone. If there is information on something else that we need first, I work will on that first.

Bitey on VF gave me a great link to help me find food with PG in it. I am saving it for later as, I feel we need information on other things first.

I know, Taz . . . our lists keep getting longer, and while I've knocked a few off the list, the additions are outpacing the deletions.

I like your idea of collecting studies regarding nicotine delivery and what it takes for people to switch delivery systems.  The longer I've been vaping, the clearer it is to me that the nature of our addiction to smoking varies from individual to individual.  I guess maybe for some people the addiction may be primarily about the hand to mouth habit, but I don't think that's true of most people.
